The Achilles

Banter is the beautiful layer of soft yummy icing on the Football cake, and when the only unbeaten team in the Premier League is Liverpool, best believe the banter would be like the ‘Thanos revolution’ when that reign is ended. Some of us thought or hoped United would be the team to end that reign but it didn’t happen(sadly) but can we count on Wolverhampton to end this run?

Liverpool have a pretty strong team🙄 yes we know, but Wolves have had a pretty good run against the top 6 team so why not?🤷
The 3-4-3 formation has improved Wolves’ football; its recent impact including coming from behind to win against Chelsea, but can that really cause the intended damage against Liverpool?

It’s more advisable to match fire with fire. The successful implementation of the gegenpressing rests mainly with the midfield, and so does its undoing. I strongly believe that a 4-2-3-1 formation as well as alertness and precision from every player would be suitable to match Liverpool’s energy. “For the strength of the wolf is the pack, and the strength of the pack is the wolf”

Nuno Santo, I’m sure realises that all you get is one or two touches on the ball due to Liverpool’s setup and it is important to make it count. How to make it count💭

Moutinho has the most important job of all I would assume, his creativity and accurate long balls in the central role would be very helpful to the front 3, also his ability to retrieve balls would come in handy.

Helder Costa and Diego Jota would need to bring their A game against Liverpool to get the result they desire. Their speed and precision combined with Adama Traore’s strength or Raul Jimenez’s trickery and finish should be able to inflict maximum damage on Liverpool.

Fabinho is the most adored Liverpool player right now – no thanks to his ability to own the midfield. He now looks the heartbeat of the “gegenpressing” formula. Wolves picking him out of the team would do significant damage to their ball retrieval and distribution. I am looking forward to seeing a midfield duel between Fabinho and Moutinho💃💃

Bonus point 1,Clyne, who only just returned from a long term injury to act as temporary right back in the absence of Arnold. He would definitely be a suspect in that Liverpool’s defensive and, I expect Diego Jota to capitalise.

Bonus point 2, Allison, might be a terrific shotstopper but he doesn’t do well under pressure🙊
